The Owls in Our Backyard
Last summer we had a quite the visitors. We had a pair of barred owls raise some owlets from egg to leaving the nest. There were three but one died, but the other two made it, that was great! What wasn’t so great was how loud the owlets screeched from dusk till dawn. They were HUNGRY and LOUND!
But it was pretty cool. One of the more unusual moments was when we woke up in the morning to find one of the owlets on our deck. It was learning to fly and was resting on our deck. The cats were not amused! Eventually it flew back clumsily (it was still learning) to the forest.

Quite the experience, I hope they come back and raise more owls next summer.
