Great Read: Graphic Design Cookbook

To be fair Graphic Design Cookbook: Mix & Match Recipes for  Faster, Better Layouts by Leonard Koren and R. Wippo Meckler is more of a resource than a read actually, but what a resource it is! As the title suggests the book is a visual cookbook for coming up with quick and effective layouts for any purpose. Pick this book up if you have creative block; using the ideas in this book can get your creative juices flowing again!

The book is broken into five parts, each section having many ideas for brainstorming new, interesting and solid design solutions. To create an interesting new design in a hurry, think about what you you are trying to communicate and then find inspirations in the book’s five sections:

• Structuring Space – basic page structure
• Orienting on the Page – headers and pagination systems
• Text Systems – text box ideas
• Ordering Information – grids
• Pictorial Considerations – image ideas
