Doodle of the Day for January 30, 2009
Last night I went to Chopstix, a dueling piano bar in Seattle with my wife and some friends. I ordered the Mai Tai and it was pretty good, not great, but it’s not really a Tiki bar, so I can’t judge them too harshly on that point. The pianists were great, lots of fun, even if they only played one of my requests. (Movin’ on Up from the old television program The Jeffersons).
It’s a good place to have fun, but not really to have a conversation, so I wasn’t able to chat with my friends as much as I’d have liked. Between the moments of shouting conversations about Cory Doctorow’s latest book, my friend Russ and I started playing “doodle improv”. That’s where one person draws a line or two, then the next person draws a line and it builds until you have a completed doodle. In this case, a little fellow drinking a Mai Tai, completed on the back of a song request sheet. I highly recommend doodle improvs, Mai Tai’s and of course The Jeffersons.
