Today is the birthday of the universe! At least according to the Ussher chronology, a 17th-century chronology of the history of the world calculated from a literal reading of the Bible by James Ussher, the Archbishop of Armagh (Church of Ireland). If his calculations are to be believed, the universe was created on this date in 4,004 BC. (just don’t tell the Chauvet Cave painters their work predates the universe by 26,000 years or so!)
Universe, you don’t look a day older than 5,000 years!
