For this week’s How They Did It, I had to share this is a great gem that I first saw on John Nack’s blog. It is pretty amazing, famed director and Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam shares his technique for creating cut out animations. It is a fascinating look at how he created the distinctive look for the animations used in Monty Python’s Flying Circus. It is very inspiring and informative, now I want go and cut up some magazines and give this a whirl!

The whole point of animation to me is to tell a story; make a joke; express an idea. The technique itself doesn’t really matter. Whatever works is the thing to use.
