Native American Heritage Day

Instead of buying crap on the day after Thanksgiving, use the time to honor the original inhabitants of the Americas. A good start, if you live in the Americas is to look at this powerful map by the Native Land Digital and find out the names of the peoples who were the original inhabitants of where you live now or were born.

Learn their names and stories. For instance, I was born in the lands of the Shoshone-Bannock, and currently live in the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples including the Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Duwamish.
